The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo state will go ahead as planned as there is no justifiable reason to shift the election.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, stated this in an interview with Punch while also noting that INEC is ready for the election.
Oyekanmi was asked to respond to the fresh demand for the shifting of the election by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, asking that the election be shifted to enable it screen its agents.
While justifying why the election would not be shifted, Oyekanmi said, “INEC will not postpone the Ondo Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday November 26.
“The Commission is ready and all the necessary materials have been deployed.
“There is no justifiable reason to shift the election.”
