BREAKING: ‘We Would Not Rubbish The Institution’ – Senate Rejects Magu Again

Magu 2

The Senate has refused to confirm the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, as the substantive chairman of the anti-graft agency for the second time.

The nomination of Magu was rejected by popular votes as majority of the Senators were not convinced especially with the reports and letters written by the DSS concerning Magu.

Senator Ndume, an APC lawmaker, rose to oppose the rejection of Magu as he agrees that even though the “majority will have its way but minority must have its say.”

His plea was however ignored as the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, said: “We should not rubbish the entire institution because of an individual”
