The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, has confirmed the death of a man, Adeola Oyekan, brutalized by soldiers of 174 Battalion in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Oyeyemi assured the deceased’s family that all the perpetrators would be brought to book.
Adeola’s Landlady had invited the military after a misunderstanding over two-month rent arrears the victim owed.
On arriving at the house, the soldiers manhandled and brutalized the deceased, landing him in the Pillars Hospital, Ogijo.
ASP Oyeyemi, while giving updates on the case, said, “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the landlady and the son should be arrested.
“Through that, the son will be able to identify the soldiers.”
Oyekan’s case is coming two weeks after some soldiers of the 174 Battalion allegedly brutalised a woman, Ruth Orji.
Orji’s case has been taken to court.
