Alex Iwobi’s second half goal guaranteed Nigeria’s place at the 2018 World Cup, the Arsenal forward earning a 1-0 home win against Zambia on Saturday.
Gernot Rohr’s men are now through to the 2018 World Cup finals after a hard-fought win against the Chipolopolo at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Nigeria lost midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi to injury early in the first half but this did not deter the super Eagles as they became the first African team to book a place at next year’s world cup.
Zambia had a goal dissallowed for offside and Ighalo went agonizingly close to opening the scoring but couldn’t get on the end of a Moses Simon cross.
Zambia continued to threaten and were denied a goal after hitting the post and were made to pay by substitute, Alex Iwobi who tucked in a neatly taken goal for Nigeria.
