Waney, alongside his men, embraced the amnesty programme of the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.
In an event of sorts that attracted Chiefs, politicians and political leaders, Waney declared an end to his involvement in militancy and submitted all arms and ammunition in his possession.
In fact, the arms submitted by Waney was recorded to be the largest gathered from the amnesty prog.

Waney however went back to terrorizing the state and was reported to be the mastermind behind the new year day killings that took place in Rivers state.
