The Home based Super Eagles team secured their first win at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) with a slim win over Libya.
Nigeria were left frustrated in their opening game against Rwanda after playing a draw despite having numerous opportunities to score – with the hitting the goalpost three times.
So it was understandable that the Eagles came into the match firing on all cylinders against a Libya team that won it’s first game and were sitting on top of the table.
The first half ended goalless and both teams came out firing on all cylinders and the game seemed like it was going to end in a deadlock until a moment of brilliance in the 79th minute.

A cross came in from the right and Nigerian striker, Sunday Faleye reacted brilliantly to adjust his body before firing a shot that left the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Nigeria held on for the win and the result sees them go top of the table with 4 points. They would now face Equatorial Guinea, who have been eliminated from the competition after losing 2 out of their three group stage matches.
