Coach Gernot Rohr has pulled off a bit of a surprise in his starting XI as he has chosen to start young Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho in tonight’s international friendly against Poland.
Many football pundits had predicted Rohr to stick with Ezenwa, who got Nigeria through the world cup qualifying matches but the coach has decided to keep faith with Uzoho.
The 18-year-old Uzoho, who keeps for Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna, is not the only surprise in the starting 11 as new boy, Brian Idowu takes the place of Elderson Echiejile on the left wing.
In midfield, Joel Obi marks his comeback after four years with a start in midfield in the absence of captain, John Obi Mikel.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi also get the nod to start in what looks like a 4-4-1-1 formation against the ‘Whites and Reds’ at the Municipal stadium in Wroclaw.
The match is billed to kickoff at 8:45 pm Nigeria time.
Nigeria XI: Uzoho, Shehu Abdullahi, Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Idowu, Ndidi, Joel Obi, Iwobi, Iheanacho, Moses, Ighalo
