President Muhammadu Buhari has told the All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, that his tenure extension, alongside that of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) is illegal.
Buhari dropped the bombshell on Tuesday before the commencement of the NEC meeting at the national secretariat of the APC where he informed a packed hall that the party should consider cancelling the tenure extension decision.
He described it as illegal, adding that “it is against the party constitution and the Nigerian constitution.”
It would be recalled that the APC had in its NEC meeting on February 28, extended the tenure of members of NWC.
One person who was clearly not happy with the decision was APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.
It is no secret that Tinubu and Oyegun, whom many believed have the ears of President Buhari, have been at loggerheads for some times now.
