There was only one hero on the night as Gareth Bale came off the bench to score one of the greatest goals of champions league history to hand Real Madrid a 3-1 win over Liverpool.
Bale’s cause was helped by an horror showing by Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Loris Karius as Real Madrid made champions league history with their third consecutive champions league final win.

Much of the pre-match build-up was centered on the battle between star forwards Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo in Kiev.
The duel was however cut short as Mo Salah suffered a shoulder injury just before the half hour mark and left the field in tears as the night ended on a sour note for him.
The 25-year-old landed awkwardly on his left shoulder after grappling with Sergio Ramos, while Ronaldo remained on the periphery throughout.
Dani Carvajal soon followed as another injury all but ruled him out of the world cup in June.
Despite numerous chances, the first half ended goalless.

The second half was a different game entirely as the first goal of the night came just six minutes into the second half as Karim Benzema was the beneficiary of a massive goalkeeping error by Karius.
Sadio Mane found a swift response for Liverpool following a corner by Liverpool.
With the game locked at 1-1 in the 64th minute and 122 seconds, Gareth Bale on for Isco – who earlier hit the crossbar – scored an overhead kick of rare brilliance.

Karius was again guilty of poor goalkeeping as, seven minutes from time, he pushed the Welshman’s speculative drive tamely into his net, confirming Madrid as European champions for the 13th time in their illustrious history, while Jurgen Klopp suffered more final heartbreak.
