Barcelona got their Uefa Champions league campaign off to great start courtesy of a brilliant display from Lionel Messi as they beat PSV Eindhoven 4-0 at the Camp Nou.

The Barcelona captain had revealed to the fans at the beginning of the season that the team would prioritize the champions league this season and the Spanish side confirmed this n Tuesday with a brilliant display.

Messi scored three beautiful goals on the night with Frenchman, Ousmane Dembele scoring a stunner of his own as PSV could not contain the movement of the Barca players.

Although PSV had the better of the opening stages as Gaston Pereiro powered a shot over the bar and Steven Bergwijn curled narrowly wide on the counter, it was a Messi goal that sparked Barca to life.

A foul on Dembele presented Barca with a free-kick outside the box. Messi then stepped up to take the free-kick, lifting it over the wall and past the outstretched arm of Jeroen Zoet in goal.

Suarez was denied a couple of chances before Dembele doubled Barcelona’s lead after he brilliantly turned two PSV players before running into space and unleashing a right-footed effort that beat.

Ivan Rakitic lifted a delicate ball over the PSV back-line that Messi dispatched with a fine first-time finish on the run to make it 3-0.

Shortly after, Barcelona defender, Samuel Umtiti received a second yellow for impeding Hirving Lozano but that wasn’t enough to stop Messi as he latched on to a clever Suarez flick and finished brilliantly to claim his hattrick.
