The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, from the race for the party’s governorship ticket in Oyo State.
This is coming after the recent revelation that Shittu didn’t participate in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
Premium Times had reported that Shittu failed to present himself for the scheme despite graduating from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU) at age 25.
APC’s governorship aspirant screening committee had initially cleared Shittu despite the revelation.
However, after the party’s National Working Committee NWC) met to review the report of the screening committee, it decided against clearing him.
Shittu is the second Minister under President Buhari to be entangled in an NYSC-related scandal with former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun having to resign after it was revealed that she used a face NYSC discharge certificate to get her position in government.
