A late Odion Ighalo goal spared Nigeria’s blushes as the Super Eagles laboured to a crucial 3-2 win against Libya to move them to the top of Group E in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The match in Sfax. saw Nigeria race to a 2-goal lead in the first half in what looked to be a comfortable match for the Eagles only for the Libyans to emerge from the break with more vigour and ideas.

South Africa’s goalless draw against Seychelles earlier on Tuesday meant Nigeria had the chance to go top of the group and a late goal by Ighalo ensured this was the case.
Nigeria started the game having the upper hand after Ighalo got the first goal of the game in the 13th minute after beautiful interchange between Iwobi and Musa with Musa squaring the ball for Ighalo to finish.

Minutes later, Ighalo, who plies his trade in China with Changchun Yatai, turned provider as he released Ahmed Musa who did well to beat three Libyan defenders before slotting past the keeper.
The momentum soon shifted to the Libyans who tested Francis Uzoho a couple of times before their persistence paid dividend as Saltou combined with Zubya to half the deficit before the interval.

The Libyans emerged from the break looking to grab the equaliser as they kept on putting Nigeria under pressure with various attacks which eventually paid off as midfield lynchpin Benali got the scores level in the 74th minute.
Ighalo had other ideas however as he left Libyan defenders on the floor with a deft dummy before scoring his fifth goal in four days to send Nigeria top if the group.
