[VIDEO] “I Gave Gov. Amosun N220Million For His Election, Now He Doesn’t Want Me To Be Governor” -Dapo Abiodun

Nigerian multi-billionaire and governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has revealed that he gave Governor Ibikunle Amosun $1million.

According to Abiodun, he gave Amosun the money to help him (Amosun) in his re-election bid in 2015.

Abiodun and Amosun have since fallen out as the current governor is supporting another candidate, Abiodun Akinlade to be his successor.

In a video shared online, Abiodun can be seen explaining, in Yoruba language, all he has done for Amosun and the party.

“I lost the (Senatorial) election then despite spending so much money. I went to the tribunal and won but Kashamu went behind and bribed officials and that was how I lost the appeal,” Abiodun said.

“Ibikunle Amosun did not lend a helping hand all through my travails, he didn’t even give me anything but after I lost, he assured me that I would be the Minister from Ogun state (in Buhari’s government); maybe he didn’t want me to leave the party.

“His election was just two weeks after mine and I stood by him and campaigned all over Ogun state with him. I asked him what was he going to give the (State Assembly) to stand with him during his election and he replied he was going to give them N1 million each but I told him N1 million would not be enough.

“Despite the fact that I just lost an election, I gave each Assembly member N10million each from my pocket because I know what allowed me lose the Senatorial election and I didn’t want us to lose the governorship election as well.

“I gave Amosun $1m (N220 million). I gave a sitting governor, who didn’t support me during my election, N220m because I didn’t want money to be a problem during the elections.

“After the election, Amosun suggested another person as a Minister from Ogun. I didn’t have any stake in Amosun’s government, not even a cleaner in the government house and I was not annoyed.

“The reason he is angry with me now is because he called me and told me to contest for the Senate and I asked him who he wanted to put forward as his candidate for the governorship election.

“He replied that he wants to bring a woman from outside the country or a woman from the central bank and I said how can he bring someone who doesn’t know about the party to be the governor of our state”

Dapo Abiodun, DA as he is fondly called, was declared winner of the APC governorship primaries in Ogun state, polling 102,305 votes to defeat Amosun’s candidate, Akinlade who got 23, 443 votes.

The other aspirants in the election were – Jimi Lawal, who got 51, 153 votes; Abimbola Ashiru (29, 764 votes); Senator Gbenga Kaka got 17,771 votes and Abayomi Hunye 9,110 votes.
