Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen was unstoppable as he netted a hat-trick to give the Nigeria U23 team a 4-0 win over their Libyan counterparts.

Osimhen’s three goals and a late fourth goal by Okereke saw the U23 Eagles move to the U23 Africa Cup of Nations which is billed to hold in Egypt.

The Dream Team VII began the AFCON U-23 double-header qualifier against Libya poorly as they lost 2-0 away to Libya at the Stade de Ben Guerdane.

But the second leg was always going to be a different affair, especially after coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr released three of his players to go help the cause of the U23 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Monday..

One of the players released from the Super Eagles was Victor Osimhen and he got right down to business as he had an early chance but failed to convert after shooting straight at the keeper when he found himself in the box.

Taiwo Awoniyi was next to miss a good chance after Orji put him through in the box, but the striker could only misses from close range.

Nigeria then had a free-kick on the edge of the box but Kelechi Nwakali was left to rue his luck after his beautiful free-kick came off the bar.

It was not long before Osimhen got the crucial first goal that started the comeback for the Under-23 Eagles after pouncing on a loose ball in the box just before half-time.

Osimhen saw another effort canon off the bar but he was not to be denied in the 67th minute as a fumble by the Libyan Keeper presented him with an opportunity to double the team’s lead. He soon got his third, finishing superbly after being put through on goal by Nwakali.

Osimhen was involved in the fourth goal as a back-heel pass from him allowed Okereke to tap in at close range.

Imama Amapakabo’s boys have now qualified for the continental finals in Egypt, billed for November. The event also doubles as the last qualifying stage for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
