Many came out to pay their final respect as the body of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, was laid to rest in Abuja.
His remains were brought in an ambulance to the Defence House in Abuja, where family members, as well as his colleagues, gathered to pay their last respect.
On Friday, the presidency announced the death of Kyari who died as a result of complications from COVID-19.
The president’s chief of staff was on self-isolation after testing positive for the disease late March.
The late chief of staff was buried at Gudu cemetery in Abuja.
Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, was among those at the funeral to pay their last respect to the deceased.
In a statement issued after the event, Shehu said a condolence register will be opened for the late Kyari at the office of the secretary to the government of the federation from Sunday.
”A condolence register will be opened at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from Sunday for those who are able to use the window permitted for movement by the FCT administration,” the statement read.
