Varying reports reaching us show that many protesters have been injured as men of the Nigerian military reportedly opened fire on peaceful protesters at Lekki toll-gate in Lagos.
Earlier in the day, the Lagos state governor had ordered a 24-hour statewide curfew starting from 4pm but this directive was defied by the End SARS protesters.
According to a video sighted by our correspondents, the End SARS protesters at the toll-gate agreed to defy the curfew although they insisted they were going to be peaceful even if they were approached by the military men.
Trouble however started when the soldiers arrived and started shooting at the protesters with many of the protesters scampering to safety while others were holding up the Nigerian flag in the hope that this would stop the shootings.
After the shooting at subsided a little, it was discovered that many protesters had suffered varying degrees of injury while a number of unconfirmed protesters were reported dead.
